Imperia Online tips – economy

Imperia Online is popular browser real time strategy game. It can be rather difficult at times since each player competes against thousands of other people in Imperia. That is why I decided to write down some useful tips for different aspects of Imperia Online game play. This series of articles will start with tips and strategies for enhancing and boosting your economy. The economy tips are valid for beginning players as well as mid-upper level players.

Population growth

Getting as many citizens as fast as possible should be the priority of every aspiring king in Imperia Online. Nomads have it easier and better first few months since they do not have to build houses. Imperians should build new level of houses before the population limit is reached. This will make population growth smoother and your population will not stagnate for hours thus leading to faster population growth.

It is also important to research new levels of medicine whenever you can afford it and, of course build farms in all the provinces. Without farms, population in all first circle provinces of your Imperia Online empire will grow very slowly and growth in second circle provinces will slow down after a week or two as well.

Flexibility

Successful kings in Imperia Online have to be flexible regarding their priorities, plans, strategies and goals. Apart from willingness to change your ways, you will often need ability to obtain needed resources relatively fast. Higher levels of market and trade research will help your Empire a lot. Buying much needed resources and selling abundant ones is often the best way to build or research new stuff or train more soldiers fast.

Gathering large volumes of resources safely

Most of the time, there are powerful neighbors that will keep an eye on you through their spies. These kings love nothing more than to attack their weaker neighbors who have full treasury. After all, looting rich, but weakly defended empire is usually very profitable and rather risk free. Smart approach to hording the resources will, however save you a lot of trouble.

Building higher level vaults and spreading the resources between all your castles is the best approach to gather resources safely in Imperia Online. The only problem is with gathering gold which is stashed only in your capital. This can easily be done with higher level market though. You can spend your gold on resource that is underpriced at the moment and sell it fast again when the need for large stash of gold arises and the price is more favorable.

Also, maintaining higher level of counter-espionage research and high numbers of defending spies in all your provinces is a good way to mask how much and where your resources are stocked. Very few players will risk attacking someone in their 2x range blindly for loot or keep sending new spies despite losses until they succeed. You might get attacked once in a while by strong army even though the enemy could not get his spies through. However, it will not be a targeted raid, mostly on capital thus the low chance of your main stashes in other provinces getting looted.

To conclude, the main focus of this first volume of economy tips for Imperia Online is helping you kick-start the growth of population which leads to faster gathering of resources. The above mentioned tips will also help you lower the chance of getting looted for your stashed resources by stronger players of Imperia Online thus advance faster with fewer or no setbacks.
